Trackgleam

About / Detroit, since 2023

Made ina music city.

Trackgleam gives an independent artist with a great song the release a label would have planned for it. We are 11 people in downtown Detroit, building AI full time.

The story

Simone Whitaker spent years writing one-sheets and pitch emails for self-released singles. The songs were often great. The materials around them were usually written the night before, by the artist, in a hurry, and they read that way. The artists who did get a proper release had something the others did not: a label's press and art departments.

Julian Reyes had spent his career on music metadata and language models, and he had seen what the new models could write when they were held to a strict brief. Together they started Trackgleam in April 2023 with one question: what if every artist got the press kit, the pitches, the rollout, and the cover a label would have made, and none of the made-up claims a careless tool would add?

The answer is a pipeline built around one rule. Everything we write comes from what the artist told us. Everything we design is original. And every email goes out from the artist's own inbox, because that is the only kind a curator reads.

Why Detroit

Motown wrote the playbook for artist development here.

This city has always known that a great record also needs a plan: the photos, the press, the order you play things. That idea is still in the air on Woodward Avenue, in the techno and soul and gospel and hip-hop rooms all around us.

We work on Woodward, a short drive from Hitsville U.S.A., and we try new features with Detroit artists early, because they tell us plainly when something reads wrong.

Founders

The twowho started it.

Simone Whitaker

Co-founder and CEO

Simone spent nine years in artist development at an independent distributor on Detroit's east side, writing one-sheets and pitch emails for hundreds of self-released singles. She started Trackgleam so an artist with a great song and no label could still put out a release that looks and reads like someone planned it.

Julian Reyes

Co-founder and CTO

Julian built recommendation and metadata systems for a music streaming startup, then led applied language model work at a creative software company. He plays bass in a Corktown soul band, which is how he learned what a press release is supposed to say.

What we hold to

The honeststance.

  1. 01

Only the facts you gave us.

Press materials use what the artist supplied and nothing else. No invented streaming numbers, awards, press quotes, collaborators, or tour dates. A curator who catches one made-up claim stops trusting the rest.

  2. 02

    You send it.

Pitches are written for you to send from your own inbox. We never mass-email curators, blogs, or stations. Relationships in music are personal, and we would rather help you write a better note than send a thousand bad ones.

  3. 03

    Original art, every time.

Cover directions never imitate a real artist's cover or a real logo, and they avoid real people's likenesses. Your release should look like you, not like someone else's.

  4. 04

Yours to keep, yours to delete.

Artists own everything they make here. Your data is private, exportable as one file, and deletable for real from Settings.
